LONDON Jan 12: An 18-year-old woman has died after catching the killer flu bug sweeping the UK.

Ms Walker, from Applecross, died after becoming ill at home – initially from flu symptoms which later developed into pneumonia. It is the second recent tragedy to hit the small Wester Ross community.

Mr Macleod, 57, died while fishing for prawns near his home village of Applecross in November. His body was found 15 miles away at Staffin Bay on the Isle of Skye on December 9.

Bethany was airlifted to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness but died later last Friday. Her death comes as flu deaths have risen by 77% in just one week in England, according to Government figures, prompting fears of the worst outbreak in 50 years.
