Google no longer Britain's top brand, Amazon is most favoured
London, July 14 : Google has been knocked off the top spot of a list of Britain's favourite brands by online retailer Amazon.
The search engine slipped to the second rank after getting embroiled in a series of privacy scandals.
According to the YouGov BrandIndex, the web giant's popularity had "started to wane", the Sun reported.
Meanwhile, 'Marks and Spencer' fell out from the league of top three for the first time to be replaced by BBC 'iPlayer'.
The study, which is conducted twice a year, measures the popularity of more than 850 brands.
Top 20: 1) Amazon; 2) Google; 3) BBC iPlayer; 4) M and S; 5) BBC; 6) Heinz; 7) John Lewis; 8) Sony; 9) Boots; 10) Cadbury; 11) Sainsbury's; 12) Channel 4; 13) Cathedral City; 14) Samsung; 15) Maltesers; 16) Colgate; 17) Freeview; 18) Waterstones; 19) Dyson; 20) Bosch. (ANI)
