Marriott Hotels opened in Kochi Lulu Shopping Mall - one of Asia's biggest mall

KOCHI Dec 15: Kerala’s newest premier four-star hotel, Courtyard Kochi Airport by Marriott was opened by Kerala Minister K Babu last week at the Lulu Shopping Mall, which is under ocnstruction in Edappally in Kochi. The website launch was done by Kerala Minister K Ibrahim Kunju and Minsiter Anil Kumar was the chief guest.

This brand new hotel in Kochi is the latest business hotel conveniently located just minutes from Kochi Nedumbassery Airport. Marriott has tied up with Lulu Group in this venture. This is also Lulu Grup's first venture into the hotel industry.

Lulu Shopping Mall under construction in Edapally, Kochi is going to be officially opened on 3rd February 2013.

It is built on an area of 16, 98,261 sq ft, with total area for mall alone at 300,000 square metres (3,200,000 sq ft) and the remaining portion for a premium five-star hotel managed by JW Marriott Hotels.

It is anticipated to be the fourth largest mall in India , following High Street Phoenix Mall of Mumbai 360,000 m2 (3,900,000 sq ft), Orchid Ozone Mall of Mumbai 324,000 m2 (3,490,000 sq ft) and will be bigger than the Metro Walk Mall of Delhi 2,600,000 sq ft (240,000 m2).

The mall will be the size of eighteen football grounds and 60% of the size of The Dubai Mall. More than 360 outlets including food courts, restaurants, family entertainment zones and a seven-screen multiplex will all come together to make Lulu Shopping.

The estimated cost for this project is more than 1500 crore rupees. The mall is run, managed and set up by the EMKE group, a business group with interests in Middle East, Africa and Asia. The EMKE group Managing Director is M. A. Yousuf Ali, who is yet another NRI hailing from Kerala, based in the UAE.

Located in Edappally Junction, one of the prime locations at the meeting point of three key Highways, NH 47, NH 17, and the Kochi Bypass, the mall is expected to be a landmark for the state of Kerala and its people.
