Malayalee complaint against Jet Airways after losing gold worth lakhs for rupees
By Krishna Chandran

LONDON: A Malayalee has filed a complaint after her losing gold worth lakhs of rupees while travelling Jet Airways. The Kottayam native was travelling from Kochi to London via Mumbai by Jet Airways. She had all her gold ornaments in total of around 30 pavan in a hand bag.

As there was no space for her to keep this bag in the luggage space just above her seat she held it with her. However, a female cabin crew member (north Indian) asked her to keep this bag in the luggage space above her and when she said that there is no space the cabin crew took the bag from her and put it in the luggage space further away from her seat.

The Malayalee lady did not doubt anything as she assumed the bag would be safe as its inside an aeroplane.

Just 30 minutes before the landing she asked the cabin crew lady to get her the bag. Instead of getting the bag for her she said that the bag is just aboeb seat number 10 and that she can get it when the plane has landed. Once the plane landed she went to look for her bag but couldnt find it as it was missing.

The lady complained and a proper check was carried out. This time they found another bag full of chocolates from the luggage space just above seat 12. However, what makes matters more confusing is that this bag found above seat 12 doesnt have any resemblance to her bag and thereffore a case of mistaken identity is totally ruled out.

The lady is claiming that the cabin crew member who took her bag had the responsibility to return the bag to her and therefore the responsibility lies with the airways to compensate her.

The lady made a complaint to Heathrow Airport authorities but they have totally washed thier hands stating that they do not have any responsibility as the issue had taken place within the flight and therefore any complaint has to be dealt by the airways.

The cabin crew has also not reported an onboard incident which has made the Malayalee in more distress.

A complaint is filed with Jet Airways.

Jet Airways is known for such things. Please see below another complait about Jet Airways.

My name is Shanawaz Mirza.

On 8-Aug-2011 morning, my uncle returned from Saudi Arabia to Bangalore via Bombay.

In Bombay he found that one of his bag was missing, hence reported at the Jet Airways counter.

Some lady from Jetairways (signed as 'joelle') took all the information and asked my uncle if there are any valuables inside the bag, my uncle replied 'yes' and gave her the details of the gold items that were inside the bag.

She noted down this information, but no acknowledgment was given to my uncle about the items in the baggage. He just got a missing baggage report slip.

After my uncle arrived in Bangalore, the bag got delivered to home address on 9-Aug-2011 and when he opened it, the gold items were missing. He is really disappointed as I had suggested him to travel through jetairways, though he DID not wanted to go through jetairways.

Now I should think twice before recommending jetairways to any of my friends or relatives.

I want an enquiry to be done in this case and do the needful immediately.

I have been writing emails to jetairways since 9-aug-2011 but I got 2 replies telling they will get back to me when they hear something from the airport authorities, after that no replies at all no matter how many times I email them asking about the status of enquiry.
