New site aims to become online destination for Indian doctors
NEW DELHI May 10: A recently launched website called mdCurrent India is hoping to become a top online destination for Indian physicians.
A former executive with publishing company Advanstar is behind the site, which looks to be somewhat analogous to an Indian version of two Advanstar properties aimed at U.S. physicians and health providers – Medical Economics magazine and ModernMedicine.com.
“mdCurrent provides physicians in India with local perspectives on the most important emerging clinical information and studies from across the globe,” the site proclaims. “We also provide key practice management and operations advice to facilitate your role as both a business person and a doctor.”
The company’s business model looks to be based on selling sponsorships and advertising, similar to many news sites. However, no third-party ads appear to be running on the site as of now.
mdCurrent recently filed a regulatory document stating that it’s looking to raise $500,000 in equity. The company’s mailing address is listed as being in Strongsville, Ohio.
mdCurrent’s parent company is Pennsylvania-based Intervention Point, whose managing partner is Steve Morris, formerly an executive vice president with Advanstar’s Healthcare Group. He left Advanstar in 2010 to launch Intervention Point.
