Kerala also tops in using internet for obscene purposes
Lucknow, Aug 10: Kerala, the most literate state in the country, has dubious distinction of using internet for obscene purposes the most.

Out of 496 cases related to obscene material on internet reported in the country last year, Kerala alone accounted for 136 cases, the statistics of National Crime Record Bureau(NCRB) said.

Kerala was responsible for 55 per cent cyber crimes in the country last year out of a total of 245 such cases followed by Andhra Pradesh.

According to NCRB figures, Kocchi of Kerala was on the fourth spot among the cities with above one lakh of population after Bangaluru in Karnataka,Jodhpur in Rajasthan and Ludhiana in Punjab. As many as 85 cases were registered in one year in kerala where internet was used for sexually teasing the women The figures also suggested that there was an increase of 67 per cent in cyber crimes this year as compared to last year. In 2010, the number of cyber crimes was 1322 which rose to 2213 in 2011. (UNI)
